Bruce Sexauer's
Fourth Violin! Again I have used Italian Spruce,
but this time the rest is from a maple I cut in down town Mill Valley.
In working it it seems most like European Maple as it is creamy
textured and white, not too hard but quite firm. The flame is easily
seen from the right angle, but not as pronounced as the expensive
store-bought maple. On this one I made my own purfling using the
thinnest of black veneers and a very highly flamed perfectly quartered
maple in the middle.
